"Do you want to know my secret?"

Is what Mylie says to me tonight as she is sitting on my lap. I tell her yes and she leans over and whispers in my ear, "Momma, you are my best friend." A little later she shared two more secrets, "Momma, you look like a princess." and "I think you have pretty hair." I'm a pretty lucky momma.

And a couple funny things:
  • Mylie has been talking about Easter already and when we were at Costco last they had out some really cute spring dresses and I told her that when it is Easter time we would pick out a new Easter dress. So she was talking about this yesterday and how she is excited to wear her new dress to Primary. I ask her what Blake will wear to church, she looks at me like I am dumb and says, "handsome pants."
  • Mylie has been very into discussing the difference between girls and boys lately. Out of all the ways she could differentiate, this is what she came up with (on her own, mind you), "Girls have wiggly chests and boys have muscle chests."

Waiting rooms and weigh-ins

Miss Mylie has had a cold and a cough since late last week. She and I spent the weekend at home and she was feeling much better yesterday, I thought she had finally kicked it. Poor baby woke up at 4:00 a.m. this morning crying and saying that her ear hurt. Jeff is the sweetest Daddy ever and had her all snuggled up with him in the rocking chair by the time I got downstairs. We called her doctor this morning, who is just great, and they got us in right away. She did so good at the doctor's office. She took her boots right off and climbed up on the scale (just like Momma does at her doctor). She is a whopping 40 pounds. She sat up on the table and let Dr. Miller check her ears, throat, tummy, heart, everything. Not one whine at all. She does have an ear infection and she also has this weird rash, that I can't remember the name of now. She has had it just on her face for a few days but it started on her neck a bit today. It is some form of strep virus if I understood him correctly. She is now on antibiotics and a cream for the rash and will hopefully be feeling better soon.

Then it was off to my doctor for my weekly appointment. All week I could tell the baby was still laying sideways, but last night I seriously could feel him change positions. And today he was head down, I am dilated to nearly a 3 and 50% effaced! Just when I didn't think I could be any happier, my doctor asks if I would like to have the baby Sunday, as she is on call that day and will induce me then if I want. She didn't have to ask me twice and we are scheduled for 7:00 a.m. that morning. That is if the baby doesn't come before then, which the doctor and I both suspect might happen.

Mylie is geared up to stay with Grandma and Grandpa Breach while I am in the hospital. She is so excited to have a sleepover with them! I am so happy they only live 45 minutes away. I also feel lucky to have some great friends who have offered to help with Mylie however they can. It is so different this time, planning and all. All Jeff and I had to worry about when we went to the hospital with Mylie was feeding the dogs, there is a little more to it this time. That has been my biggest worry about having this baby, not the delivery, pain, or even possibility of a c-section, but making sure that Mylie felt safe and secure when we had to leave for the hospital. I don't know if this even makes sense, but it is kind of a weird feeling, knowing there are only a few days left of just Jeff, Mylie and I. Don't get me wrong, we are all super excited for Blakey to get here and we love him so much already, but it is strange that these are the last days of just the three of us. I must just be feeling hormonal ... imagine that!

Girl's Night In

So Mylie and I had a scrapbook night tonight. She was so excited. We even went to the store this afternoon to get licorice because it is a must have for scrapping. We had a lot of fun and were working on a special little book for her. It is "Mylie's Big Sister Book" and we are going to put pictures of her and Blakey in it. She is excited to read it to him. She loves to scrapbook with me and for Christmas I gave her a scrapbook kit of her very own. She has played with it a lot since Christmas, but tonight was the first night that we got to sit down for a couple hours and work on a project together.

And of course, it wouldn't be a Breach blog entry without some crazy Mylie stories:
  • Tonight Mylie and I are watching Cinderella. It is the part of the movie where they are singing the song "Sing Sweet Nightengale." Mylie has the sweetest singing voice and I love it when she sings. So I was happy when she started singing, except her version went like this "Sing sweet night in jail." Deputy Daddy thought that one was pretty funny.
  • The other day we go to the store and Mylie gets some skittles. The whole way home as she is eating them she keeps saying, "I love skiddies, just like Bailey. Bailey loves skiddies. Bailey always has skiddies."
  • This morning I am sitting at the computer paying bills and Mylie is in her room playing with her dolls. She comes in behind me, looking just like this, and says, "Mom, I'm going to Costco now." {Hopefully this is not what she thinks I look like when we go shopping!}

  • Poor Mylie has a cold. The other night she fell asleep on my lap. She wakes up with a horrible coughing fit and can't catch her breath. After she is OK, I am helping her to blow her nose. Guess what is in there other than boogers? A BUTTON!
  • She must have heard me talking (a.k.a. freaking out) about how big the baby is getting. Now when she says her prayers at night, she asks Heavenly Father to bless Blake to not grow anymore.

And no, it is never boring at our house!

Doctor's appointment today

So I make it through my last night of Court prior to maternity leave last night. I get home, put my feet up and start having some contractions. I start timing them and they are about every 15 minutes apart for about 2.5 hours. I am thinking, OK, this is a good thing, at least they are starting to be consistent, maybe I'll have this baby soon after all. Then I go to bed and they promptly stop.

So off to my weekly appointment this morning. The NP is listening for the baby's heartbeat, and wouldn't you know it ... it is not down low where it is supposed to be, but up high again. That and I am still only dilated to a 1 cm and not effaced at all. So they decide to do an ultrasound to check on this kid. He is not head down anymore, he is sideways (which I believe is called a transerve position). Great. So then I ask if they can give me an estimate of how big he is. Now, just for the record, according to my doctor's office, I am 37 weeks. So they meaure the head - 40 weeks 1 day, then they measure the stomach/torso - 40 weeks 4 days. His estimated weight right now is 8 lbs 13 oz. OK, seriously, this kid's head looked freaking ginormous. And the earliest my doctor said she would induce me is 2/5, only if I am dilating, which apparently I am not.

So now I apparently just wait until my appointment next week ... and wait and wait.

What in the ...

So last night, after dinner, Jeff, Mylie and I are just hanging out watching a Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris movie. Mylie is sitting on my lap and it is just a nice quiet night. All of a sudden Mylie says, "What in the hell?" Jeff looks at her and says "what did you say?" I bury my head in the blanket to try not to laugh as she repeats it to him. After we get our bearings, we explain to her that hell is not a nice word and she shouldn't say it. I ask her where she heard that word and she said ever so sweetly "Melanie." Now the hilarious thing is that if you know Melanie, you know that she did not teach Mylie that. Then I realize that this is a perfect "A Christmas Story" moment. Totally reminicient of Ralpie when he drops the F-bomb and his mom asks him where he learned that word ... I wonder if Mylie's three-year old brain had the same thought process as Ralphie's. "I had heard my mother say that same word every day of my young life, but I couldn't say that so I blurted out the first name I thought of ...." Note to self, I either need to employ the "earmuffs" tactic from "Old School," or think before I speak.

"CAN YOU GUYS HEAR ME?"

So, one of Mylie's favorite things to do is to go work out in the garage with Jeff. She loves it all except when he is doing bagwork, because she thinks the punching bag is too loud. So this afternoon Jeff is working out and Mylie is out there with him. He starts in on the punching bag and in comes Mylie. Jeff, being the wonderful man he is and knowing that I just need 20 minutes of quiet time, tells Mylie he is going to get her something to put on her ears so it won't be loud. Off he goes to get his ear protection that he wears to the gun range and Mylie puts it on and is very content to stay out with Daddy. Well in the house they come a bit later and there is no way Mylie is taking off her "earmuffs. So she keeps walking around yelling, "Can you guys hear me?" Jeff and I are laughing so hard, because she thinks that we can't hear now either because she has "earmuffs" on. I think one of the greatest things about little kids is that everyday there is something so funny to laugh at!

Last night I learned

that eating jalapeno and banana peppers for dinner will NOT cause me to go into labor (as I had hoped). They will simply cause the baby to disco all night long.

62 years ago today ...

is when my Grandma and Grandpa Hammond were married. Aren't they a good looking pair? They had 60 wonderful years together. Just thinking a little about Grandma today and how strange it will be to have a new baby and not be able to show him off to her. But I know she'll be watching and sending her love. I still miss her everyday.

Strike a Pose!

Just a few Mylie moments from the last week. She and Jeff got me a new camera for my birthday. I have a big nice camera that I love, but I have been wanting a small one for my purse/diaper bag (because yes, I am like the paprazzi). She has quite enjoyed posing while I play with it.

Mom and Dad came to visit on Saturday for my birthday. It was a fun day. Dad and Jeff went shooting in the afternoon and Mom, Mylie and I just hung out. We went to The Sandbar (this spectacular steakhouse) for dinner that night. Mylie was so amazingly well behaved. She was so sad when she had to tell Grandma and Papa goodbye. She said, "Momma, I just love Gramma and Papa and I want them to stay at our house forever and ever! So cute!

A quick note ...

Just got back from the doctor and this little guy has turned and is head down! Hooray! I am 1 cm dilated. Now it is just a waiting game. Fingers crossed that this baby comes soon! I am just so incredibly ready for him to be here.

A reminder

that all bad days come to an end. And that little ones are so cute and precious when they are sleeping to help us forget when they drive us crazy during the day! Today was a combination of neither Mylie or I getting enough sleep last night, me being uncomfortable and misreable, and her probably probably having a little cabin fever. She is such an independent 3-year old, which I always thought was great ... but she is definitely in a pushing the limits pattern lately. If she asks for something to eat and I say no, she gets a chair and climbs to the top of the pantry while I'm in the other room and gets it herself. If she is thirsty and I am in the shower, she climbs up to the cupboard, gets herself glass, gets the gallon of milk and pours herself a drink. I'm not sure what I am more worried about ... her taking a fall one of these days or her deciding that Blake needs to get out of his crib in the night and climbing up there and trying to get him out! I know that she is just testing out her upcoming role as a "big sister," but lets just hope that Momma has enough patience for it!

A Sunbeam, A Sunbeam

Mylie is officially a Sunbeam! She has been going to the nursery at our church since she was 18 months old, but today was her first day in big-girl Primary. She loved it! She had fun in singing time with all her friends and loves her new teacher. She is such a big girl and growing so fast. Look how adorable she and Daddy are!

She was singing for us after church and was singing the Primary song, "I am a child of God." Part of the lyrics are about "parents kind and dear." Mylie, however, kept singing "parents kind of loose." Hmmmm.

Heads up

is apparently how this baby is going to stay. Nine months pregnant and he still hasn't turned. I guess the irony of a breech baby Breach is fitting. I had a doctor's appointment today and she said they would likely do an ultrasound at my next appointment and if he hasn't turned, we may talk about a c-section. Maybe if I stand on my head . . . .

OK, here we go ....

It's the official Breach family blog. So to start off 2008, here are a few of our 2007 Christmas memories. We did so many fun Christmas things this year. A few weeks before Christmas, Grandma, Papa, Huncle Ben (thats what Mylie calls him), Aunt Holli, Darcy, Max, Eliza and Bailey were all here (we missed you Courtney and Jason!). We spent a fun (and cold evening) at the Winter Garden Aglow. This is a light show setup at the botanical gardens at the old pennitentiary in Boise. It is beautiful and amazing, plus so neat because my Great-Grandpa Rudd was the warden there and Grandma Hammond lived there when she was little. The kids got to see Santa and see Prancer. I don't have any pictures that will do justice to how beautiful it is, so instead here is one of Mylie and Max when I got the camera out. Weirdos!

The next week we had the big camel trip ... the what you may ask? Last year we went with Grandma and Grandpa Breach to a living nativity scene at a church in Nampa. They had all the animals there, including a camel. I have no idea how Mylie could remember this, but she did and had been asking forever when we got to go see the camel. Grandma tracked it down and though it was pouring rain, Mylie got to see her camel (Alice the camel has one hump). She had no fear this year and pet him and let him lick her hand.

A few days later was the much anticipated Polar Express train ride with Grandma and Grandpa Breach. A few weeks before Christmas Mylie and I watched the Polar Express one night while Daddy was at work. She knew that we were going on a train with Grandma and Grandpa, but actually seeing the train movie got her so excited. Her biggest fear was that Grandma (who had the tickets) would lose Mylie's and then she would be in big trouble because the guy couldn't punch her ticket. The train ride was such fun and so was seeing Santa at the North Pole! Mylie was very excited to sit on Santa's lap and tell him what she wanted. She is very into babies lately (wonder why?) and she has told us all month that she wants a car seat for her dolls. So there we are at the North Pole, Mylie is sitting on Santa's lap and he asks her what she wants and she tells him a car seat. Santa looks at me (note, that I am incredibly pregnant) and says, "That's a very responsible request for a little girl." I then explained to Santa it was for her dolls.

Christmas itself was very fun. Jeff had to work (he is on night shift 7p - 7a) on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, so it was a little strange, but still a wonderful day. Santa delivered a baby car seat for Mylie's dolls as well as many other things, I guess despite the one phone call Daddy had to make to Santa, Mylie managed to stay on the good list. We had a fun Christmas dinner with Grandma and Grandpa Breach, Uncle Matt and Aunt Shawnna, and Melanie, Rylee, Avery and Brax.

So now the New Year is here. I went back to work today after being off since Christmas and Mylie went back to Alicia's. It's our attempt to go back to a schedule, for at least a few more weeks until this bundle of boy gets here and life gets crazy again. We can't wait!!!
