This girl ...

... can be trouble. Tonight while taking a bath she decided to dump an entire bottle of shampoo in and add a bit more water because she wanted some more bubbles. The bubbles completely filled the tub and the water splashed out, a lot of it. Now this isn't the first time this has happened. Mylie + the bathroom = trouble.

She got out of the tub and Jeff told her she had to go right to bed without a song (our normal bedtime routine). We also told her that she would have to do extra chores to buy a new bottle of shampoo. While Jeff cleaned up the mess, I helped her get her jammies on and did her hair and then went in her room while she said her prayers. She said the "regular" part of her prayer ("bless President Monson, things to be good at Daddy's work, John and both the Grandmas to feel better and Courtney's baby"), she then said in a sniffly voice, "Help me to be gooder and not dump bubbles in the tub and to do my extra chores. Amen."

How do I even keep a straight face around her? How can she take me to the edge of frustration in one second and then just want to hug her and never let go in the next? Life is never boring with this girl!

High on Peeps

Oh I wish I had my camera out tonight, but I didn't, I was laughing too hard. We were all watching "Kung Fu Panda" (Mylie got it in her Easter basket). The kids had a few Peeps for a snack. Apparently the sugar immediately affected Blake.
  • First, he started crawling around in a circle, squealing at the top of his lungs, like a dog chasing its tail. Then he'd collapse on the floor and laugh.
  • Then, he started walking backwards, with near perfect "moonwalk" form.
  • Next, he went in the kitchen, got a big tupperware bowl and put it on his head like a hat and laughed his head off while marching through the house.
  • Finally, his sugar high gave him just the extra boost he needed to get his chubby little legs up on the ottoman. However, that was all he could do, his body laying flat on it, gripping onto the other side for dear life, and laughing in a maniacal way.

I swear, he only had 2, and I just found half of one of them stuck to the kitchen floor. What a goofball!

Happy Easter!

This year the Easter bunny left Momma a message that instead of hiding eggs, he was hiding Mylie and Blake's whole Easter basket. Mylie was on the hunt. Looks like she found hers!
Showing off some of her basket goodies.
"Gol Mom, its early. Is this really that exciting?" thought Blake.
But then Mylie gave Blake his first Peep ever, he was a happy boy after that.
I couldn't wait to get a picture of the kids in their new Easter clothes ... however, it didn't go quite like I planned ....
It went a little better outside.
Happy Easter from our house to yours!

Pioneers.

In March I decided I wanted to read the "Work and the Glory" series. I had read the first few books years ago, but never read the whole series. So I started at the beginning and I am 3/4 way done with book #9, the last one. Yep, so in the last month, I've probably read 7000 pages. Needless to say, pioneers are on the forefront on my mind. I have often found myself singing or humming "Come, Come Ye Saints." Yesterday morning I must have been singing and Mylie asked me what I was singing about. I told her pioneers. She asked what pioneers were, so I thought for a moment and I told her they were people who walked all the way from Aunt Courtney's house (Iowa) to Aunt Bailey's house (Utah) and it took two years. She gave me the most shocked look and then said, "Wow, they should have drove!"

Goodness she makes me laugh. I have so enjoyed reading this series and have really learned a lot. Plus I am even more excited for Mylie and I's trip to Iowa this summer. We are going when Courtney has her baby (a sweet little girl) and they only live about an hour and a half from Nauvoo, which we will definitely be visiting!

A few things that I forgot to mention about Blake...

He likes Elmo and he is a good kisser (though he'll only give Momma and Elmo kisses).
His hair is getting long, and look how light it is.
He really likes cars, trucks and trains.
His new favorite thing is "Ring Around the Rosies."

14 months

Wow, 14 months already? On Friday Blake turned 14 months old, he is such a joy and a turd at the same time. Lately he:
  • Has learned to climb. We have 3 ottomans in our living room and they are strategically blocking things I don't want him to get into. The other day he climbed up on one, then immediately looked at me with a very mischievous grin.
  • Loves bananas. He has one with his breakfast every morning and he starts squealing and bouncing up and down in his high chair when he sees it.
  • His favorite word is Momma. He says it all the time ... and I love it!
  • Likes to wrestle Daddy. If Jeff sits or lays on the floor, Blake is all over him.
  • Loves to read books. It is so cute.
  • Is still a snuggler, he loves to lay his head on my chest and snuggle.
  • Is starting to walk pretty fast. He still has the toddler (Frankenstein-like) walk, but he is getting fast!
  • Likes cooking utensils. His favorite is the potato masher.
  • Is a great sleeper. He goes to bed by 7 and sleeps until 8. He takes a long nap too.
  • Still prefers a bottle over a sippy cup. Mylie was totally done with a bottle by 11 months. Not this guy!
  • Is crazy ticklish, especially his chubby little thighs.
  • Loves nursery. (Jeff and I are the new nursery leaders so he gets to go with us and he loves it!)
  • Loves playing with Mylie, they are the best of buds.
  • Is such a happy, content little dude. We are so blessed to have him as a part of our family.

Oh Mylie.

Today Mylie and I were shopping for a new Easter dress and shoes for her. As we were walking past the purses she tells me, "Mom, I need a new summer bag too." Oh my!
